Good evening,

We are currently in Cape May, NJ.

Our 7 step Marquipt stair is having issues. The bolts holding the steps on the rails are breaking.

Can anyone recommend a machine shop in this area that could repair it for us?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Where in Cape May?

Canyon Club probably has the most diverse facility.

Utschs should be able to connect you up with a machine shop if they can't handle it.

Are you talking about the removable pins that hold the stairs into the bracket? If not, what part exactly? The quick release pins are available at most chandleries as they are used a lot on sail boats as well as fish boats outriggers, they are not some Marquipt exclusive item. I agree that Utsch's is a good place to ask; we always found them very helpful.

These stairs are designed to be a pantograph and to always 'find' balance (or horizontal). If you are having the bolts shear off, in addition to getting them replaced, you should have someone look at the overall operation and fit of the stairs themselves. They shouldn't be breaking. This indicates there is another problem that has to be remedied.

It may be that all the bolts need replacing, because of slop in the connections it is a cumulative thing. Little bit here, and there adds up to an out of adjustment ladder.

After looking at several pictures, why not call Marquipt themselves? they would be the best source of info about how to troubleshoot their own stuff.
