Hi, I should soon close on a used 43' trawler and I want to dry store it while I go thru the boat to make it ship shape. It doesnt leak but it hasnt been maintained for a couple years so there's probably plenty to do.

Does anyone know of a marina or yard that has haulout and will let you do your own work on the boat in the kemah/clear lake Tx. area?

thanks,
Phil

I'm pretty sure the yard at Watergate or Waterford (can't remember which, they're right next to each other) allows people to do their own work...at least I see them doing it.

Lol, yup. Good Luck.

Try Hillman Marine on Dickinson Bayou, a few miles south of Kemah/Seabrook.

I'm pretty sure all of the other yards in the area now prohibit any significant work by the owner due to insurance restrictions. I called around last year and they were the only ones that still allowed any DIY.

There is a DIY yard on NASA Pkway but I don't recall the name. It's east of the Endeavour Marina, across from Boondoggles.

PAYCO Marina-a big do it yourself yard just as you cross the causeway to Galveston--not too far from Kemah
