Oh, yours was better than ours. We ended up tied to a dock for repairs.

What broke this time? (It's a boat there always something broke)

We're at the dock finishing up preparations before heading to Alaska. Too much of a zoo to go out on a holiday weekend when you don't need to.

Yeah, Bimini was a zoo. Luckily South Island wasn't so.

We had good weather in the Berry's. I would have made par if it wasn't for the damn water hazard. The elevated sand trap almost saved me.

Pack Mule, aka Marty. Can you pm me about those davits? They're very similar to what I'm looking to put on my Mainship.

Thanks

We had our annual Memorial Day Southwestern Y C raft-up at Coronado Cays Y C in San Diego Bay. They have a great club with a large dinghy dock and a two lane bocce course. Yes, we lost to them again for the second year running. We enjoyed dining and dancing on Friday, a catered barbeque on Saturday, and a bring-your-own barbeque on Sunday. Monday morning we had a pot luck breakfast gathering on board and broke up the raft and headed back to our own club.

Sure , I will later this afternoon . I'm playing at work right now and I was off all last week .:hide::hide:

Memorial day..... We, arrive at the dock Thursday evening, cocktails and a midnight cruise. Woo hoo. Pull out of the marina, turn right and blow a steering line. Patch and return. That was close and Im glad I wasn't alone. Friday get up, repair copper line, install new toilet. Woo hoo. Leave to meet some friends at Ocean Isle, anchor the boat, blow up leaky dinghy, arrive on coast line and have a beer. Woo hoo. Leave coast, arrive at boat. Kris, my boat partner among other things, climbs on the boat then on the last step, slips and breaks two ribs on the swim platform, then has to climb back up again and makes it. Pull up the anchor and cut my hand, bleed everywhere while the gimp is driving and concerned for me now, between the pain grunts. Head back to Southport and tell her I think we should leave, but no. We stay at the dock and go to a local friend's house for bbq. Drink the pain away. Saturday we went to the er and wasted half a day away. Came back and cooked and drank until Tuesday morning. On and off of course, we don't have a problem, trust me. We are at my house now for the week because Kris cant fly back home now. All in all we both had a snapping good time.

So why could Kris get on the boat with broken ribs better than healthy.

We were all over the San Juan Islands for the last ten days. Here is the sunset at Jones Island Marine Park. ImageUploadedByTrawler Forum1432759033.817336.jpg

I was wondering why I didn't read your name as the winner of the TPC Sawgrass , you were burning up the links elsewhere!

Anyone partake in a remembrance ceremony?

Anyone partake in a remembrance ceremony?

Yes, a private one. Good friend lost 5 of the 8 men in his unit. He almost died with four of them but spent a year recovering from wounds instead.

Puts things into sharp perspective.

Anyone partake in a remembrance ceremony?

Yes we did!!! The Texas Mariners Cruising Association held their 5th Annual Spring Fling at Pleasure Island Marina in Port Arthur, Texas. 130 boats attended with a very busy daily schedule of events. Numerous seminars. The remembrance ceremony was held on Sunday due to the fact most people would be departing on Monday. A close friend and fellow brother, a Lt. Col in the Army, was the MC. It took place in a driving squall line but our Nation's Colors were observed and the ceremony went off without a hitch....other than the weather.

Perfect weather here in eastern NC. Didn't go far at all avoiding all the boat traffic. Took the Whaler over to Carrot Island for some quality beach time. Jammed on Saturday, mellow on Monday. Lot of military in these parts, so lots of remembrance all weekend.

Watched "The Longest Day for the first time in a long time too. Ann's dad was in the 101st, my dad was fixing shot planes in England. You also see more Confederate flags flying on Memorial Day, the one time I can reconcile with that; all it takes is a visit to Gettysburg to understand why.

I agree Larry wins. Best time of year be go over in the islands.

Anyone partake in a remembrance ceremony?

Yes, for years on Memorial Day three of my former squadron mates and I have either gotten together in person or by phone. Most years we have all somehow been able to get in touch. Several in our squadron did not make it back, but we keep their memories alive.

No Memorial Day on the boat. It's in the "shop" for annual maintenance and repair. :ermm:
