Trawler Endeavour on Okeechobee Waterway

Hi all,

I am looking for information on the trawler Endeavour docked near Indiantown, Florida on the Okeechobee waterway. Looks like she might be for sale from the pictures and would like a point of contact. Endeavour looks like she has seen better days. I would have liked to have added a picture to this post, but am having no luck. If anyone has any information on Endeavour I would appreciate it.

It looks like it did when I first saw it tied up to the end of a dock in the Clear Lake area of Texas in the 1980's. Seems like it was at or close to Lakewood YC.

I remember there being an interesting story behind the boat but I can't remember what it was except that someone fairly well known in the Houston area built it.

I used to wonder where it ended up and now I know...but that's about all I know.

It's been sitting in that same place and in that same condition for years and years now. Very sad.

Never recall seeing a for sale sign on it.

Wonder if there's some way to get a hull number/registration or doc number off it, without doing anything stupid, of course. Would be interesting to find out something about it.

If you have the home port it's easy. There are 71 vessels currently documented with the USCG named Endeavor. Otherwise you can sift through the listing. Lots of info.

Kewl, I didn't know that. I have no idea what the homeport would be, but since I'm sitting here waiting for my boat to be done at the yard, I think I'll peruse a bit. Thanks!

SeaSalt007. Are you pretty sure that's the same Endeavour you saw in Clear Lake? I found a 1946 steel hull "Endeavor" that was documented in Houston, but have no idea if it's the same boat. But, I can't tell what this one is made of or even Guess at the year.

I met the owners at a boat show sometime in the last ten years and we talked about our free undercover dockage for sellers program here at the shipyard in Fort Lauderdale. I told him that I had seen the boat there for years on my way through the Okeechobee Waterway. He was so far out of reality on the value of the boat that I did not pursue it further.
In the current condition the owner may have to pay someone to take the boat away.

I'm 99.9% sure it is the one that I saw for years sitting in the channel on the way into LYC in Blue Dolphin Marina. Same name and I distinctly remember thinking that it was a real cool looking boat.

I think that it is steel.

I too like the lines of that boat, but I think that it way past economic recovery. You could drop $500k on that boat and still not be "done"

Perhaps , but at a commercial yard $10K will get a bunch of plate , and if the engine runs , you are off on your adventure.

Anything broken ,(besides the bilge pump) just deep six and enjoy the ride!

Spending big money is really easy , NOT spending is a hobby and an adventure.

If the owner is insane with pricing , fear not his heirs wont be.

And $50K wouldn't be enough to fix leaking fuel tanks - and that's not including fines for fuels that escape.

Now how much to insure this vessel? Or maybe you don't plan to ever tie up in a commercial facility? It's going to be hard to renovate this boat on the hook in an environment where municipalities are increasingly vigilant for derelicts.

I'm sorry, but the "good old days" are gone and I would advise anybody to run in the other direction.
