Came across a gov. bond that matured a decade ago.

Does anyone know if/how the interest accumulates , if it does?

It depends on the type and series.

Go online and do a search for a government bond calculator. You enter the series identifiers and the bond serial number and it will answer all of your questions. And it tells you what the bond is worth, what the interest rate is/was and if it's still accumulating interest.

Any nationwide bank can cash it in for you if that is what you choose to do.

Thanks,

This is one of those funny gifts you get as a kid. At the time I'm sure you were thinking to yourself "What the @$#% am I supposed to do with this?!!"

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

The bond probably cost grandad 2 hours of work wages.

Today its probably worth ten min of work.

Plus it will be taxed!
