Salt Water Side Cooling Hoses

Hi...the salt water side cooling hoses on the inlet side of the heat exchanger on my YANMAR diesel are popping off their couplings at high RPM. Everything is normal at low RPM and at operating temp but once I accelerate up to about 85% RPM one end of the hose loosens up and pops off. I'm wondering if this is just a loosening up from thermal expansion of the hose or is significant pressure being built at higher RPM because of a blockage in the heat exchanger? Any ideas?

Blocked exhaust elbows?

Yes, something is blocking the flow causing the pressure to build up. The two most likely causes are the main ht exchanger- scale or impeller parts, or a plugged injection elbow.

Start with the elbow- easy to check and if OK pull and disassemble ht exchanger.

Check your tranny cooler, one of the first ones to clog up, very common result, double check hoses also as some are close to splitting when they are expanded that much.
