I do my oil change in the fall when it's hauled out.
In the spring I check to make sure nothing is leaking, then I turn the key with the stop button depressed until the pressure gage starts to move.
Then I release the stop button.
I check to make sure she's pumping water, then kick her up to about 800 rpm and let the "cobwebs" burn off.
