Hey Matt!
Nice dink. In a few of the photos it looks like a tubular metal frame. Is that for a Bimini cover? Or maybe just a stiffener?

Thanks CC. It can have a Bimini but I didn't get that fitted. They wanted too much for a shite branded one so I figured I can fit a good aftermarket one myself later on

The poles you see are the oars that come free with it.

No croc chew toy there Matt. Good looking tender

Lol yeah thanks mate. Need a stable tender to carry the beers to AXE. Can't risk losing that cargo to the crocs, not that we have any in Perth lol

Man that's one tough looking dingy , but nothing less for the AXE . Glad you're back at it .

G'day Matt,
Have been following your progress closely and as a fellow Aussie wooden boat tragic I say wowww, your a brave man and from what I can see you have really done the old girl justice. It's not easy keeping the old style lines but modernising her to the comfort levels and room required.
I have been looking at those plastic dinghies myself and especially the rescue version. The way I read it it can act as and replace your life-raft ( I know what I'd rather be sitting in if all hell breaks loose).
Just wondering being local if you ducked into the factory for a peak at the different models and if they do meet the standards for life-raft?
Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam.
Yeh mate I did go to the factory and I did have a look at those sharkies but decided on the spindrift. They are a nice bit of kit but they didn't fit my purpose. The hull is 100kgs and it needs a trailer. I wanted to get away with not having to use a trailer. It's a bit much for one person imo. Hopefully it will fit better with your needs tho if that's what you're after.

As for the standard, it meets all AMSA requirements so you can't really go wrong there. I deal quite closely with AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) in my workplace on the wharf so if they certify something then it must be legit.

Picked up a new OB for my tender today and also did a bit of welding on the roof structure support bearers

And they even threw in the cart on wheels! Nice.
Good to see some pics of Axe too.
Now, where Ya gonna stow that nice Dingy and Motor?
Keep filling that garage with toys Mate! I'm trying to empty mine as fast as I can.

Glad you chose a motor with a smaller lower unit this time. My back is still killing me from shipping the last one :D

Yeh I'm going to get rid of the White trailer thingy. That thing is more trouble than it's worth tbh. I originally bought it to tow behind my bike. It looked ideal at the yard but one I got it home I realised it was wayyyyy to big. Looked tiny beside the bus where I bought it from lol anyway I've moved it so many times in the last 3 years I think it's time I flick it now that I have the tender.

Roof bearers all welded, bulkhead panels screwed off, downlight and speaker cutouts done. Left a 50mm overhang on the centre recess so it can hold blue LED accent lighting. Not long until the leather gets fitted and the gloss T&G feature inserts get fitted then I'll jump up on top, pull the roof sheet off, install the insulation then glue and screw the sheets down then glass the whole area off before cutting out the two fwd roof hatches

Looking good Matt! Like your motor too. Nothing like having a warranty for trouble free operation....until the month after it expires. I've always wondered how they do that.....:)

Greetings,
Mr. H. OUTSTANDING young man! But, and there's always a but...Not a criticism my friend, just an observation. My concern would be one of two things...Either your overhead space with the insulation is going to be super well sealed against ANY moisture intrusion OR you're going to make some provision for ventilation to allow any moisture to evaporate. THAT would be my only concern. I think I've mentioned this before but it's still on my mind. From the pictures, I think the last thing you're going to have to worry about is structural strength. Keep at it mate.
Ah, one more thing. Have you considered the stability with so much weight that appears to be up so high?

I took 'Tank' the tender out on the weekend for a test run. I even had a special guest tag along for the ride...

I can't believe how fuel efficient this Merc is. We drove around for 4 hrs and I can't tell how much fuel we used. The tank gauge didn't leave the full mark so I opened the tank and the fuel is almost spilling out. It doesn't go anywhere fast but it'll run on the smell of an oily rag
