Wifey B: Oh, our timing. A few weeks ago we hit Panama City for Carnival. Well, hitting Port Antonio, Jamaica for Easter is much the same.

On Saturday, there was a Coolers Fete on Shan Shy Beach. We just walked by it as we were going to go swim beneath Reach Falls. Omg, the water was so clear. On Sunday it starts with a sunrise church service if one chooses, there's a Brunch at Trident Castle, and an all day beach party called Marbana. It's all inclusive and wild. It's on the beach basically beside the marina. Also, Boston Jerk Seafood Festival, which we'll have to miss. Tomorrow, Monday, Soca music starts right beside the marina at 4:00 AM. That's the start of a huge breakfast party called Canbouley. They sure celebrate this holiday.

You must be a Errol Flynn? I really enjoyed my stay there.

Check out the local stall market. Great produce, herbs and spices.

That town has great jerk chicken. And people.

Did you come straight from Colon to PA?

No, we went up the coast of Panama to Isla Bastimentos, then we went across to Grand Cayman, then back here to Errol Flynn. Sounds convoluted but we wanted to keep boat in Grand Cayman when we took a break. Now once we leave here we're going to return to Isla Bastimentos/Bocas Del Toro (So many wonderful islands there to explore..tender heaven), then up to Belize and Cancun area. This is our final leg. From Cancun, we'll just cut across to Key West.

We were in Grand Cayman for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of the islands. They had some humping good parades.

I can imagine. Funny thing is that the events we've been able to enjoy were not planned around so we'd be there. They just happened to work out in our schedule. Sure are a lot of people enjoying themselves today.

Columbus did get around, didn't he!

Did you get down to the San Blas islands?

We didn't get there for any extended time, just a day. We cruised down from Colon/Shelter Bay. They were beautiful, but we enjoyed the Bocas del Toro area immensely when we got there.

Can you post some pics? I just stayed at Trident for a few days last fall. Hit Boston's Jerk shack, swam in Blue Lagoon, had a wonderful time.

Biggest party I ever attended... Rio de Janeiro in Brazil for Carnival.

Made Mardi Gras in New Orleans and New York's Thanksgiving Day
parade combined look like a rural town's middle school fair day.

Maybe one day for us, but not sure it has or will remain as big. We've not been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans either. Problem is I love the events and pageantry, but not so much the crowds. We did go to one day of Mardi Gras in Mobile last year. Were actually on our way to New Orleans and waiting for Mardi Gras to end.

My favorite time for New Orleans Mardi Gras was the week before...all the locals getting ready and tuning up...the crowds still to come.

We had no idea that the celebration was planned for that week, but it created a great diversion. In fact it was an almost spur of the moment trip. I think one of the princes was staying at the governors mansion just down the beach. It was May 2003, and is a week I will never forget.
