Show us your tractor

We needed a tractor for work. Digging, excavating, trenching, etc. I put our tractor out to bid to several dealers. One gave me a great price and so I bought an extra one to use around the house. Kubota 2650.

Tractors are almost as much fun as boats And here's a picture of the snow we have been dealing with. That pile outside the window is 9' deep.

I bet that rigs beats a shovel or walk behind. how far does it blow the snow?
Awesome cab. Is it factory? We got a landpride snowblower for the 3 point hitch as well, but it has hardly snowed at all here in CA.
Are your tires water filled? Do you really need the chains with the 4wd to run the tractor in the winter? I remember my gramps always had chains on his, but the dealer told me I wouldn't need them if I filled the tires with beet juice or glycol.

Here's one of them, would be good at snow plowing . Also one hell of a forklift.

The snow blower is 74" wide and throws the snow 20-30' depending on how heavy it is and how fast you try to move it. It's the only thing that actually boggs down the tractor which is 60hp. The cab is factory and man is it nice when it's 20 below and windy like it was the other day.

The chains do make a difference, especially on ice. They are covered with 1/2" cleats so really dig in, but will destroy pavement (fortunately I don't have any) and chew up the concrete floor. I put horse stall mats down on the floor to protect it. I think they are made from recycled tires or something like that. The tires are filled too.

But I still manage to get it stuck sometimes. Even in the summer the chains help prevent situations like this. It's not up to it's waste in grass, either. That's mud. I had to pull it out with the excavator. And I've sunk the excavator before too. One time it was so far down in a swamp that the exhaust was bubbling out underwater.

Peter, 9' of snow makes me want to cry. I was dressed like an arctic explorer the other day when it got down to 49 degrees. I almost died of hypothermia, It was horrible.

That's why when we get cruising were heading S, SW.

When it snows at our place in the mountains, its not uncommon for a storm to drop 2 to 5 feet at a time. We have a honda walk behind, but I thought this would be more fun to remove it with.
I didnt really consider the model with the cab as I figured I can dress for the weather. I may get a sun canopy for it though.

Olly , what is that Caterpillar? Does it have a loader on the front?

I could make a lot of money with one of those and a dump truck around here, but I dont have the yard space for that much equipment.

It's a loader with fork attachments. It was mainly used to lug the big 26" dredge pipe around the pit. Here's a picture of the identical twin just a little newer we sold awhile go, she was heading to Central America.

Yes she's a very versatile little machine. Sometimes on weekends it's fun to just take her up on the piles and load a truck and haul it two seconds away. Very fun pass time.

A number of years ago I went to the JD dealer to buy a new 30" walk behind to clean up the side walks around the house. Came home 3 hours later with a diesel tractor and a 65" blower on the front. My wife Say's I guess you're terminating the service?
Most fun I had for years till we moved into the condo.

Marin, maybe you should get some more tires on there. What model is it? What do you use that beast for?

I took those shots two years ago at the dealer. It's owned by an agricultural equipment leasing outfit we're a partner in. Hopefully it's out making us money doing whatever one does with a tractor this size. IIRC it's a 9R but I could be mistaken.

Why am I beginning to get tractor envy after seeing all those beauties? Could it be the 6'-8' piles of snow around our house and the fact that our weenie little Ariens snowblower just rolls over and shudders when it sees them. I need more machinery to take care of like a hole in the head. But, but, still ... Yes Dear, coming back down to reality now (in a minute).

The story behind my new tractor actually goes 30 years back when my grandfather bought a new kubota tractor. It was a pretty small unit , but it was fun to drive around and do chores with him. He explained to me that it would last forever and I would get it when he dies. Fast forward 30 years and my gramps just turned 99. He final decided to move out of the house and in with my aunt to take care of him. Upon his departure, he gave the tractor to the neighbors 14 year old kid! If had known he was going to give it to someone else, I would have bought one long ago.

After looking at some of your toys I'm almost embarrassed to post this pic of my tractor.



To its credit, it does have a triple bagger grass catcher on the stern, errr, I mean the back end, and it does a good job of cutting our lawn.

Tempting. But on my much reduced retirement income, and at my age, buying big ticket items on a long term payment plan is unfortunately not in the cards.

We always fill our boatyard tractors tyres with water. Helps with traction on the slipways and manouvering the hydraulic trailers.

A little long in the tooth. I sold the farm but sent the tractor back east to a friend.

John Deere 856, 23 HP diesel, more of a mower, 60" cut, than a tractor, implements include, grading box blade, and a PTO driven 7.5 KW generator, Last used for Hurricane Gustav.

Going to be at the shop later today we have a couple kubota's and a REALLY old ford y'all will like. Will snap some pics.
