Are you looking to handle this like a delivery, meaning 12 hours a day every day, or going to cruise and enjoy a bit more? That may make a lot of difference in possible Captains.

Not 12 hours a day cruise speed. 8-10 knot speed. Daylight only

Thanks.

Robert

12 hours a day is daylight that time of year. So, that every day or stay put some days or some shorter days? That's what I was asking. All daylight every day is what I'd call a delivery pace.

Send a private message to a member named Anode at this forum. He is a licensed delivery skipper that doesn't visit the forum often.

Does your insurance company require a licensed captain for this trip?

Moving boats doesn't require a license unless required by someone...and there is a broad experience and personality base of captains out there.

You might want to throw a couple other requirements out there...there are experienced but unlicensed guys that would be just as perfect....and do a careful selection.

You do not need to hire a licensed captain but if something goes wrong like getting hit by that 34 Sea Ray running on autopilot, you may want to have a licensed captain to give a statement to your insurance company. The Coast Guard is much more lenient than insurance companies. You should check with your insurance company if they want a resume from the captain and if you need a rider for a paid crew member for the delivery.

This is very true otherwise your insurance company well may deny your claim
