Gen fuel filter

My generator had been running erratically for the past month. I changed the on-engine fuel filter a year ago and only hatoday d 100 hours on the set. Sure enough, I changed the filter and all is good. The Fram filter looked clean as it is downstream from my Racors I don't know if the filter material had turned to mush or what. Switched to a Winn filter.

Check your fuel lift pump. If it is weak it will respond to filter differential pressure.

And there could be a restriction in the line up stream of the pump and filter.

What is the micron rating of your Racor? If the racor element is 10 or 30 micron it wouldn't be surprising to see a 2 micron filter clogging even if the Racor hasn't. Not a fan of Fram filters for anything. Wix filters are a much better choice (NAPA filters are rebranded Wix filters).

Also check fuel line fittings for tightness; air in the lines will cause this as well. Had a similar problem with my Onan that turned out to be rubber "O" ring failure beneath the injector body seats. This was a really inexpensive fix. Howard
