Stereo Interfering With VHF

Have a S/H VHF with AIS receiving only, when I put the stereo on the VHF goes into the busy mode and VHF has noise. This has started since boat came off dry dock for hull painting. Help Please
 
Are you using the same antenna for the stereo as the VHF? If so, maybe the splitter has gone bad or the connection is bad.
 
I'd rig a temporary ground wire and try grounding each case individually and retest for interference. If still present, try grounding the two cases to the same ground source. Any changes?

Just back for boat,,,Removed positive and negative for stereo,,,grounded negative without positive hooked up and had noise on VHF tried a different ground bar and same thing, noise. There is a spark when grounding negative
