I just replaced my 12volt perko-type engine room lights with 12 volt 10watt LED outdoor flood lights from EBay. Best and cheapest upgrade all month. 1/2 the power, much more light.

FWIW, I replaced the bulbs in our original fixtures with brighter LED bulbs... and that was a marginal improvement.
But then I added a 5-meter flexible "rope" of bright white LEDs at one end of the engine room... just tied it into the existing circuit... and that made even more difference.
I still have capacity on that 10-amp circuit, so I intend to add another "rope" of LEDs at the other end of the engine room... next time I get a round tuit. Prob'ly this spring.

I have several strips of rope LEDs that I will be installing in my engine room over the winter. Total power consumption will be less than half of the 4 incandescent fixtures in there now. I have high hopes for a big improvement in visibility.

If you use this link, choose the 10W 12volt option. Note, the packaging said they were 120volt, but when I opened the housing, 12volts was indicated.
