Arizonan in the Ocean?!?!?

Hi all, I'm a native Arizonan that recently relocated to Southeast Alaska and realize I'm in desperate need of a boat in order to explore this amazing part of the country. My wife and I are never afraid to tackle something new, and usually do extensive research before doing so and plan on continuing that tradition as we look for a boat. However, usually our ideas and adventures have been a lot more forgiving than the 45 degree ocean if something goes wrong (especially with two young kids)! I have a million questions and can't wait to get to know you all as we explore the site and our options as we begin to learn about boats. Thanks!

Can't offer much advice as I'm new to the trawler game.
We also have two young kids and recently purchased a 32' Nordic Tug because we felt it was well built and safe for us as beginners.
