My wife and I are long time boaters, currently owning a Sea Ray 340 Sundancer based in Michigan City on Lake Michigan, 4 hours from home. It fits our current needs as we are both working, and need the speed to get to our destinations on our limited time off, so we have time to actually see something once we get there! The price of that speed is horrible fuel economy, but every boat is a trade off. We are planning a 3-4 week circumnavigation of Lake Michigan next summer in the 340.
The #1 item on the bucket list once we retire will be to do the Loop in a trawler. We have chartered trawlers 5 or 6 times in the Chesapeake and have loved it, and enjoyed the slower pace. I loved the fuel economy! We love seeing new places and taking in the area history, from the water of course.
We will be hoping to learn more and hopefully some day pick up a good lead on a Loop capable boat. KP
