Looking for recommendations for a cruising guide for the Bahamas.

I’ve used Dozier’s for the ICW and would recommend it for that trip. I see that the “Yachtsman’s Guide to the Bahamas” is a highly rated publication, but read a review that said it hasn’t been updated for quite some time.

Any suggestions? KJ

Where in the Bahamas are you going to be cruising?

What ever else you get, get the Bahamas Explorer Chart Kit chart book for that area.

Primarily the Exumas, however, I'll have plenty of time to check out other locations.

The Explorer chartbooks look good as do the Maptech Chartkits. KJ

x2 on the Explorer Chartbooks, check them out before deciding if you really need a guide. They are much more comprehensive than typical charts. Their website has good info too.
For traditional guide books, I think the Steve Dodge and Waterway Guide are best.

X3 on Explorer Charts, Steve Dodge's guide to the Abacos is best for that.

Explorer Charts have pre-plotted courses and way points. Great!

Kj. Make sure you buy motion sicknesses pills

Hey Michael -- looks like I'll be down your way around the end of Nov.
Are you in Hollywood Lakes?

I'll take you to Le Tub Saloon for lunch (before they close shop). KJ

ps I'm ok with the motion sickness thing.

For get the Maptech kits and stick with the Explorer kits. As to a guide to the Exumas try The Exuma Guide by Stephen J. Pavlidis.

I'll give you a shout when I'm in your neighborhood.

I'm gonna try to stop and visit some other TF folks on the way down. KJ

El Capitan, I will keep an eye out for you as you are approaching Ft. Pierce. If at the boat, I would love to see you.

Aye, aye, Cap.
I’m looking forward to it. I’ve passed through Ft. Pierce on the ICW several times, but as of yet have not stopped there. It looks like a pretty nice place. I’ll let you know when I should be down there. KJ

I already have the flags. Still looks like a pretty good deal. KJ
