I just picked up on Richards adventure and read through all the posts, quite a thing to do alone. I think a name like Offshore Warrior or Blue Water Warrior would be suitable considering what he's going through right now.
A few navy (any country) types might have a giggle or two over the use of "warrior"...
That would be SS Savannah in 1818.
It was an auxiliary-motored sailboat. Most of the voyage was under sail only.
Greetings,
Mr. DCBD. With all due respect, anyone who willingly goes to sea with a mind to do battle has already lost IMO. Battling the elements to be sure (snow, wind, rain, hail, tornado's, hurricanes etc.) but the sea is not an element and can be a cruel mistress.
Works for me, the TF Dauntless awards.....
Dauntless Ocean Crosser
Dauntless Looper
Dauntless Great Lakes Crosser
Dauntless Lower 48 to Alaska
etc.
Craig, I like "DAUNTLESS AWARD" as it can be bestowed for different types of cruising, but would have to be an outstanding accomplishment. I envision that there would be few of those. We have some intrepid cruisers, and they deserve to be set apart from ordinary. Richard has raised the bar.
You're probably right, but he's in a battle just the same. Ever heard the phrase battling the elements.
Well we have diluted the term hero down to where it's almost meaningless, might as well whittle away at "warrior" now too.
