Hi from Campbell River BC
I have been here (background mostly) for a while.
Left the intro until plans gelled (boat acquired, house sold
in reverse order).
Boat was never a trawler but is slow, so??
Hope the avatar worked.
Ted

Hooray it did!

Hi there Ted, from up the coast a ways.

Dang purdy boat...looks like it's just flying along to me!

It will do 8-9 but for economy, 7-7 1/2 @ 850 to 900 rpm.
Ted

Welcome aboard Ted. Since you've been around a while you already know not to use the words "anchor" or "gun" on this forum. Either word will start a never ending thread.

Yes. Fair warning. I'll try to be careful of my language.
Ted

Welcome Ted, beautiful vessel!
We can always use more island boys..........:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Welcome aboard

Welcome Ted,

Your boat appears to be a retired Fisheries patrol vessel. If so what was/is her name? They're great boats.

Yeah, tell us about your boat.

The boat is named "Okisollo"
She was built in 1944 as a combat vessel for the Canadian navy.
After the war she became a towboat for two different companies.
The owner of the latter comp any put her into the shipyard for two
years to refit her for pleasure, kept her for approx. 35 years. The next owner got her about 2001, did a lot of refit upgrades, kept her until Monday 11th when my wife
(Dorothy) and I bought her. Now we'll see.

Okisollo

Here's some pictures, I hope

Strictly in my opinion, and based solely on my personal sense of maritime aesthetics, that is the best looking boat on TrawlerForum by a long, long shot. Thank you for keeping her alive and well.

Thank you Marin
Your opinion and Eric's (in another thread) are high praise indeed, BUT we are
just starting our stewardship.
The help on TrawlerForum is going to be invaluable

Great pictures, beautiful boat! O and welcome

What a great hull and beautiful lines, Ted and Dorothy!! She looks like she's built like a battle tank. Would love to see more shots when you get the chance. Engine room and interior hull? Saloon, stateroom, etc. She has obviously been well loved and cared for.

How great it must be to own such a unique and graceful vessel! Congrats!

That is an exceptionally beautiful trawler. Great find! You're a lucky guy.

Hi Ted from east coast. Is indeed a fine looking vessel. Many happy boating days!

Welcome aboard Ted! That is a beautiful ship!! So you mentioned the house is sold. Big plans in the works?

Hi
House had to sell before we could buy a boat
Sold at the right time to buy the right boat.
Intend to explore more of the BC coast that
we didn't have time to when we were trolling.

I looked at it first and thought "neat", it's practical (for a wood heater), safe and with the displacement it would not even be noticeable.

What is engine..Cat? What is composition of hull? Please stay up there, I have been told FloRitaAnn is prettiest boat on the pier, I would hate to lose the title.

Hi Mule,
The engine is a Cat D353 with turbo, 390 hp, 1350 rpm, cruise @ 850 to 900.
So, the deal is you keep the title and I stay up here???
Your'e on!!!

Cheers
Ted

Hi Mule,
I'm back, I realized I missed one question.
The hull is fir with gumwood sheathing.
Ted

Now that's a beautiful boat. Makes a new quarter million dollar Clorox bottle/white tennis shoe boat look like a kid's toy. I love the brick surround for the stove. Now that's a boat.
