I'm installing a 3000 watt Victron inverter with a 200 amp Balmar alternator to feed it. The storage will be 4 Victron AGM batteries rated at 200ahr each. I know the inverter and the alternator is rock solid. Has anyone installed Victron batteries? How have they held up? Do they meet their rating? Life expectancy?

No one has an opinion on these batteries?

I haven't heard of them either, they make great chargers and inverters.
However I suspect someone makes their private label batteries.

This is what I'm trying to determine before I buy 5 of them. They have an agm that is only 5" wide x 21.5" long.
It's a great space saver. Declared life expectancy is 10-12yrs.

Are they cheaper than something proven like Lifeline? I'm not sure why you would take the risk unless they are less expensive.

I'd also think twice about any non-standard battery form factor. Not that I love 8Ds, mind you, but you can get them pretty much anywhere, and if one fails while cruising, that will matter a lot.

I understand that but I have a real estate issue. I doubt they're cheaper @a little over $400 each. I will check lifeline to see if they have a similar battery. My thought was I couldn't see Victron selling less than superior products

They sound similar to the DEKA Unigy 1 AGM battery packs.
I had Lifelines in my Mainship for 8 years they are still going strong.

I don't think you can go wrong with Victron. With your excellent charging system & 3kW inverter, you could comfortably support a 5th battery if you have room

Here are the specs on their battery. I'm still trying to determine if they (or who) builds the actual battery. http://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-Telecom-batteries-EN.pdf

I have a verswion I'm not seeing on the DEKA site even though the batteries clearly state they are Unigy1 105AH AGMs. I have 8 of these and was thinking my initial house bank will use 4 to 6 of these. My thoughts are that I have a generator and I'll have 200-400 MPPT controlled solar and an AIR-X 400AH wind generator and a dump load controller.
My ProMariner pure sine wave inverter/ charger (70 amps charge) should be all I'll ever need.
I loved my Lifeline AGM 8D's and 31 series that I used on my Mainship for the last 8 seasons. These Unigy1 batteries were free and came off the shelf with less than 1 year since the date of manufacture. So I figure why not try them on my Gulfstar I'm modernizing?

If they are the same footprint as the Victron's it's very hard not to use them. Especially if you have them for 0 cost.
The dealer told me they (Victron) are selling a ton of these for boats.

Let me correct my last post I will have 200-400 watts of MPPT solar (not AH's)!
The batteries were the right price!

I just assumed that slip of the fingers.

I work in the RF Engineering field so I like my posts to be accurate.
Thanks,

They look to be around 30% less than the Northstar telecom battery, which is what I have had for the last 6 years without any apparent reduction in capacity. When I am in the market to replace mine, these will be at the top of the list to look at.
