OK super good mate. I see the false deck beams to keep the topsides where they belong. Guess you're good to go. Great vid hendo. Wouldn't catch me walk'in under a crane load though. I've done that kind of work. I'd tie a leader line onto those straps and pull the strap out from under.

PS ... is the engine in that silver looking box?

Hi Eric,
Those bearers you're referring to are the floor joists. I still have to add the sides yet. Yeah that rigger wasn't to clued on to the dangers of suspended loads, nor were the cranes drivers for allowing him to do it.

That silver box is her 800ltr fuel tank. I have 2 of them. One for fuel situated where you see it and aft of the engine, and the other in the bow under our bed for fresh water.

G'day all,
Just touching base to give an update on Rex. He went in for his triple heart bypass on the 1st. Joy has reported that he is home now and doing well and it won't be long till he's back at it.

I'm sure you all join with me to wish both Joy and. Rex a safe and speedy recovery.

Hey, Axe is looking' good. I'm sure she'll look even better on an 'even keel', as they say - whoever they are or were….

Yeah painted the bottom of the hull on Friday morning but ended up being rushed to hospital by ambulance around lunchtime after a high pressure hose blew off the airless spray gun at 3300psi and pumped about 5ltrs of gun wash into my eyes, throat and nasal passage. Got out of hospital yesterday afternoon.

I've cooked my right eye and have lost 70% vision to it. I have only been able to partially open my left eye unassisted tonight. To early to say if it's permanent loss but specialist say my eye is white and is like a cooked egg. Lost a bit of blood as my nasal passage **** itself and my throat is blistered. And to top it off, my airless spray gun is stuffed as the paint set inside it when I was in hospital.

Crap weekend but this morphine is top shelf

Crane still booked for Wednesday even tho there's only one coat of high build primer on her. Hopefully I'll be able to see by then.

Oh man I'm sorry about your accident . This boat work is tuff stuff and it can kick your ass . Take care and take it easy for a while . Your a tough guy and I know you'll bounce back in no time . I promise you the Axe will wait for you .

**** Man! I hope the eyeball recovers. I burned a hole in my eye when I threw a 50 cal bullet (Not the casing) in the lead pot to melt down and make some sinkers and a melted piece flew back in my eye. 3 weeks with an eye patch and lots of pain, but it pretty resilient. Good luck, hate to hear about the gun as well. Paul

Matt, your "damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead" attitude is admirable. However, let's all take it as a reminder of "safety first". First Rex in the hospital, and now you. Flic and your son are depending on you. We don't need any more of our Aussie buddies injured.

I just got an email from Rex, thanking all for their concern, but he won't be making the Sanctuary Boat Show this year.
Now you have had a mishap. Might be time to slow down a bit, get recovered, then head on in. Could the boat flip be postponed, or does it not matter..? I guess the second epoxy coat could be done right side up anyway..?

Thanks AC. Just a couple of sore eyes. She'll be right mate. I rested for a couple of days so all good. Cranes are coming tomorrow so have a bit to do today to get her ready. I would have loved to have three coats of High build primer on her but have to settle to have one on her prior to flipping.

I have bought a new spray gun since my other one is clogged up. Instead of buying the same airless type, I bought a 10ltr pressure pot so should be easy enough to spray upside down so shouldn't be an issue applying two more coats in a week or so once I can see 20/20 again

Yep the Brolga is something that we don't have yet, however we do have emus.

Oh I think I know what you're talking about. Are you looking at the uprights on the corner of the hull extension? If so, they are just there for support. I made them long for ease of construction. They will be cut down once I determine the height of the extension mate.

The Brolga is also known as an Australian crane, although they don't have them out in sandgroper country. I think their legs are too skinny for much of a lift anyway. I'd suggest using the Freo Dockers although the Adelaide Crows are have been better with turnovers this season.

Hahaha nice mate hahaha. I'm originally from QLD so my code is NRL. I'm a huge "Storm" fan. Don't ask me why. I'm a QLDer that follows Melbourne and supports the NSW Blues in State of Origin. Flic is a massive. Dockers fan so it's hard not to get into it, no matter how much I try and resist lol.
