• Trawler Forum Classified Posting Guidelines
    • We expect ads placed to be related to the topic of this forum.
    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Avoid Scams.

Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

I have too many spares and supplies to list.
We are letting the live aboard equipment go with the sale including galley wares, large slow cooker, electric tea pot, toaster, heavy duty blender, two copier/scanner/printers, one of which is color, cruising guides and cruising books too numerous to list, bed linens, towels, cleaning supplies, etc, etc.
I’ve probably even got clothes that don’t fit me anymore.

Our average fuel burn performance over the life of the boat has been 1.6 gallons an hour at 1500 RPM. I have done the reverse course several times and with a clean bottom the average is 6.55 knots at exactly 1500 RPM.
1.6 GPH equals about 1.08 liters per NM so with full tanks of 7,500 liters and a 10% reserve, you have a range of 6,300 NM.
The outside canvas probably has only a few years of service left before it needs replacing. The main engine should have 85% of its service life left and the gen-set even more. The watermaker membranes will likely need replacing if you’re going to be in a situation where you actually need to make water. We haven’t and membranes live longer the more they are used.
The interior lights will need replacing at some point. They are LED and have never put out enough light for our aging eyes. I think the new LEDs are better. We do have bright reading lights at every seat and two by the bed so we get by just fine.
The boat has two heads, one with separate shower area. It has a main aft cabin with a queen size mattress. The front cabin has over/under bunks with the bottom one being extra wide. The salon settee folds out to make another bed for two well acquainted people. The pilothouse settee sleeps one quite comfortably and where Ruth and I sleep off watch on passages. The cockpit sleeps two if you want to sleep outside in good weather and look up at the stars.
I have a Wi-Fi antenna I pull up the mast in marinas and it works well. There is no Wi-Fi here in London that is accessible so we had to buy dongles which work better than Wi-Fi but are really expensive. I’m going though about $45.00 weekly in voucher fees.
The boat is located at St Katherine's Dock in downtown London and the slip and electricity are paid through March. It can be shipped back to the east coast any month of the year for $35,000 and can be shipped to St Thomas in November for $26,500.
We have cruised on Dora Mac for seven wonderful years now and have decided to build our dream home on some property we recently purchased in Virginia.
If you have any questions about the boat then please contact me via email from our website in the first post.
We intend to have the boat pulled out of the water this April, 2014 and a new bottom job done along with some touch-up paint.
This boat built in North America or Europe would be over one million dollars. Our asking price is $495,000 but we are looking for offers.

Summer Cruise

We have decided to spend one last summer cruising on Dora Mac and what a cruise we have planned. We will depart the UK for Vlissingen, Netherlands on May 3rd. We will then remove our mast and fabricate a cradle for it and our paravane poles. This will allow us to transit the rivers and canals through Eastern Europe to the Black Sea.
With the mast and paravane poles lowered, our air draft is just 4.6 meters or about 15 feet. The lowest bridge on the trip will be 6.8 meters or about 22 feet at Novi Sad, Serbia. Our passage will include the Rhine River, Main River, canals over the mountains, Danube, River, to the Black Sea. We will transit more than 60 locks. Dora Mac will reach an altitude of over 1,300 feet.
From there we will go through the Bosphorus Strait to the Sea of Marmara, the Dardanelles Strait to the Aegean Sea, and onto the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. We will arrive back in Turkey by September where we will have the boat hauled for a bottom job and other maintenance.
The passage from the North Sea to the Black Sea is 3,900 Kilometers and from the Black Sea to Turkey will be an additional 625 NM.

I stand in absolute awe of all that you folks have accomplished, the stories you could tell I'm sure would fill an encyclopedia. If the wife & I can achieve even a fraction of all that you have seen and done when we finally embark on our great adventure, I will be delighted.

Thanks for the renewed inspiration and courage! Best of luck on your Eastern Europe adventure.
