Tollycraft 40 tricabin
Hi Art, I'm the guy you've been emailing with from Maine. I have a mooring off Laites Beach in Camden. Had a the furthest inner harbor float until my Dad passed away. Can't will float positions unless you're a commercial fisherman. So, I'm now 12th on the waiting list. The floats allow up to 42' loa so I need to stay 40' or under to allow for pulpit and/or swim platform. So the 44 cockpit would be too long.
The 40s that I've seen have transom door to aft cockpit then a door going straight into the aft cabin (dog & gear transfer friendly) Also they have walk around decks, doors out each side of main cabin (although the port door is behind the dinette & maybe more of a sliding window) which are important to me for access to deck from lower station (similar to our old Spindrift). Also, because I handle the boat alone often.
We typically cruise around 8 knots so planing isn't really important. Nice to have extra speed if out running some weather but other than that we a more leisure cruisers.
