Next to last weekend for king crab. We are allowed 3 per season it is a personal use fishery.

wow....that stinks....I don't remember it being that restrictive in the early 90's...is it really that over fished?

Granted we had our fill of snow crab until they increased carapace size by an inch or so in 1991 (+/-) which meant a few throwbacks became just about every crab.
 
This is just for Prince William Sound.
These are called golden king crab. Not over fished up here. Sort of a test fishery. Snow and king. Only the second year they have let us fish for them. We were fishing in 1400 feet of water.

Nice looking crabs! Seeing that makes my mouth water.

When I was stationed in Anchorage in the early 70's there used to be a guy from Anchorage who would drive down to Homer every day and meet the crab boats when they came in. He'd buy a load of fresh, cooked King crab and bring 'em to Anchorage.

We could buy it from him, right off the back of his truck, for $1 per pound. My how times have changed.
