Buying a 49 Grand Banks, may need engines trying to get an idea on how much to install 2 new or rebuilt about 225hp engines.

Cummins 6BT 210's are available in recon with mechanical injection. Very reliable, simple, good parts availability.

What engines are in it now?

...Any diesel engine around 200 HP will do it. However, a pair of Cummins are easier to get rebuilt. You can find spares for these engines even probably in Walgreen

Cheers

But only if you have a prescription from your mechanic.

I third the cummins recon, would also add transmission are not that much so I would order to match, that way no fiddling with adapting etc.

Advise getting a few very thorough quotes from good shops. It may well be a better plan to get a different boat. A rough rule of thumb is that the labor and prep for making the switch is 50-100% ofthe price of the engines/transmissions, depending on the boat and how much modification is needed.

Which Newton are you in? Or, where is the boat?

So what's a VT555?

It's an old Cummins V8, 555 cubic inch, with a turbo. 90deg vee block, 4valve heads, pressure/time (PT) unit injectors. Nickname is triple nickel. Similar in design to V504, 785, 903, etc. Made mostly in 60's, 70's, into the 80's. Parts are getting hard to get on these.
