Good post RT, you can really see why Cape Horn gets a bad rap. Lots of rotation down there.
 
Looks like we (in the PNW) may be getting a bit of vortex weather next week. It's forecast to be 7 or 8 degrees by Wednesday. Guess I better get my garage work done today and tomorrow. And I didn't like the cold yesterday. But this is mini winter compared to the east. But we rarely get temps below 10 degrees F.

2013 .... very unusual.

Most of us are prolly thinking winter's over, at least the worst of it. But these aren't normal times and the ocean is receiving as much heat every minute as many Hiroshima bombs. And in our favor the ocean's absorbing it. But what's going to happen if/when the ocean stops absorbing the bulk of it? This may only be the tip of the ice berg for this winter. How's that for pessimism? Could be though.
