Thanks! Im not sure of the CG requirements on that specific subject though. We just got quoted $5000 for redoing the dink tubes.

Their 10 years old, but we might leave them for time being. They are also starting to flake.

Several 55s are wet exhaust and twin engines. Some 52s on the drawing boards are twins and wet exhaust. Many Nordhavn owners do not like soot that emanates from dry exhausts and generally higher ER temperatures. Nordhavn will build to suit.

Well we put up with it, it's not that bad. IMO. As for the twin engine 55's, that's just dumb. Again IMO.

I wouldn't count on it. My platform is less than 8" from the water and we had a horrible time attempting to board it. I bought a 3 step under mounted boarding ladder from Hopkins Carter that solved that issue. We will never own another boat not so equipped.

The twin engine 55s have a very nice ER layout with no get home or overhead exhaust runs. The mains are smaller too, JD 6068s vs the 6081 as I recall. Also the hull is twin keeled and handled very well according to the PO who is now with a new N68.

The interesting thing about Nordhavn is they really do think outside the box, not too dumb either from a marketing standpoint.

I see no point IMO. less ER space, double the trouble, and dual wet exhaust's. but that IMO.

Jumping back to the keel coolers for a second.... Two keel coolers is quite common. Perhaps it's even safe to say it's the norm. The Fernstrum is for the main engine when equipped with a dry stack. The other cooler is for the hydraulics. For boats that just have stabilizers, the keel cooler would be all the cooling the hydraulics gets/needs. For boats that have hyraulic thrusters, windless, anchor wash, etc., a second cooler is added based on a raw water heat exchanger with a hydraulic raw water circulator pump. This arrangement seems to be quite common from 47' up thorough 68. I can't say so much about boats above and below that as I haven't seen many up close enough. I expect there are many exceptions too since each boat is built to the objectives of the buyer.

I haven't seen one cooled off the engine coolant loop. I think the coolant coming back from the keel cooler may still be too to hot to effectively cool the hydraulics. If I recall correctly, I think ABT shoots for 130F or below for the hydraulics.

Little update on the anchor situation. We've decided to go with Rocna. The model we chose was the Rocna 70 Kg, we chose this so we could sleep extra good at night even though a 88lb would of done fine. initially we were going get it from fisheries supply, but after finding out shipping wasn't free. We went to defender which sold it as a lower price but still had to pay shipping which in total was cheaper. On Monday defender is supposed to call Rocna on Monday, and get one shipped to them then to me as they didn't have one in stock, so not sure how long well have to wait. But will update you guys as soon as I get word.

just picked up the GPS's they're on sale at West Marine for $1499.00 instead of $1699.00 so if you been eying them NOW is the time to grab them!

Ok, so I learned something new today whilst I was hooking the GPS's to NM2K network that I made before they were installed because we only had NM0183 and Simnet, which is like N2K. So back to the original subject, we have a NAIS-300 that connects to the Simnet, I had bought a Simnet to N2K converter prior. Anyways I hooked it all up and by golly I got AIS on the new GPS's GREAT!

Crikey, you guys don't know how lucky you are - we pay about $4000 for units that size - yes, it's a rip-off, but if that's what they charge, what can you do..? That's why I have only a 5" screen.

That's a darn shame! How much would it cost to ship from the USA? I'm sure it would equate to less. But how much I don't know.

Thanks, that what we were going for. cozy and inviting. The teak and holly floor just wasn't doing it, but it always there if we want it.

Thanks! We also think it's the best one for interior space for the size, except for the 120 it seems to have a lot of room! Will keep y'all updated. We now having sat tv installed. We went for an M5 by KVH because it aesthetically fit and had the range we wanted. We also just replaced one of the salon AC's. Were planning on doing a month+ long trip through the Bahamas starting in late April early June. I'll make a thread for that trip and keep y'all posted as long as there's wifi.

Yeah I noticed that when we were in the Abaco's. We used WiMAX which seems readily available every where we moored.

Also forgot to mention, we added a aft shore-power inlet.

What is it called and possibly what brand of paint?

As I recall GB had a very similar color.

Thats not green, just white gelcoat with added color from the glare of the overhead lights.

We just got quoted $4700 for an KVH M5 so that's the next thing to be installed, the guy said he can't do it till next month so I'll update y'all

This big baby just showed up. It's huge!!! Can't wait to get it on the boat, and hopefully try it this weekend in Bimini.
