Ok, I have an idea. Your salon looks like it has a over hang, what if you put 5050 300 SMD LED strip light behind the overhangs. Just an idea the 5050 strip is pretty bright, and cheap too. Are you using the 110 v system or the 12 volt, if the 12, what did you do for a power supply?

The strip is 12v along with the remote if your using RGB. They have transformers if you want to run using 110v.

My stern of the boat is about 17 feet, do you think 4 spots are sufficient? or put 6?

I'd go with 6, but you could get away with 4. Also I believe you'll get better light if you put them on the transom as the light will face aft through the water.
 
I can put 6 too. I have flaps that We don't use because we just trawlering, must we take off? Or install abobe? Must connect with the running lights?
 
My port supply account just gave to me $ 92 :-(

By flaps do you mean trim tabs? You'd be better off putting them above them if that's what your talking about. I would connect them all using a buss bar and there own separate breaker(see pics), I wouldn't connect them to your running lights.

Now you need to change the port and starboard nav lights . The DR LED lights are great you can see them through the fog. But you have to get the red led for the port side ,white will not work unless you like pink!!!!

When it's foggy and I'm the lone boat at anchor, I leave them on all the time with minimal effect on the batteries. They give me added peace of mind that others will see me in the fog.

I sometimes leave the rope lights on in the pilothouse (circling its upper interior, visible in the above photo) if needing more than an anchor light in an anchorage.

I have a hand-held, custom-made high power, narrow beam, super strong, rechargeable LED Mag-lite. It has a special glass convex lens, high power LED element and specialized reflector to deliver a focused beam with minimum near-field scatter. The light beam casts a highly-defined square pattern as very impressive distances. The battery compartment is filled with a rechargeable NiMH battery pack.

This torch was custom made for me by an angler friend who is an expert in lighting and solar charging for CalTrans. I've seen no other flashlight that can hold a candle to it. (pun intended)

LOL, that's funny that you mention that we got an amp, stereo, and some JL 8" speakers for pretty cheap. It should be more then enough for country music. :D

Isn`t that a contradiction in terms (?oxymoron). Uh-oh, I`m hearing banjo music....(that might be too).
 
G4 bi-pin bulbs

As a test I changed out one of my salon lights with a bright white LED last spring. It replaced a 20 watt G4 halogen bulb. The new LED was 155 lumens. I didnt like it the white light was harsh and half the intensity. Today I replaced all four with a 120 LED warm white G4 bulb. You cant tell the difference between it and the 20 watt halogen. The pictures show the difference in the two LED lights.

Nice job, we went with cool white, because there was only a certain bulb that would fit out overhead lighting, and the bulbs were only available in cool. We don't seem to mind it.
 
Oliver. How are you enjoying the strip lighting. I just ordered mine and some other bulbs. I was reading some reviews about the strips and it seems there are lots of complaints about the 3M tape not sticking. What was the surface you attached your too?

Yeah the sticky stuff sucks! They are tie rapped to the old tube lighting that was there. Also did you go solid white and where are you putting them?
 
Good to hear. I will be tie wrapping mine as well. I ended up going with the warm white. I love the multi coloured look but doubt I would use that feature much. Like you, I will mount them behind the valance.

i was going say, white would look better I just used the multi colored stuff because I had it on hand. Our salon looks like a disco at night!:D
 
Ha I'll bet! Same as your centre console too :)
