It gets really cold in Russia during the winter. They probably know a lot about building heaters. A writer for Pacific Nor'West Boating was on hand for the installation of a Russian heater, and he reports his observations. Looks like a good opportunity to save some money on a heater, but it would make sense to take a careful look at the product first.

Seriously, the timing of this post and article is perfect. We currently have a couple of Sigmar bulkhead diesel heaters that are giving us problems. The boat used to have an older forced air unit, but the PO removed it in favor of the bulkhead heaters because the forced air heater was so "damn loud".

Add to the problems the cleaning (these things are messy to clean!), and we're thinking of a newer, more advanced forced air system. But, of course, price is the first hurdle.

Thanks for sharing. We'll look into the Planar heater. And we'll tell them that Pacific Nor'West Boating sent us...
