As we reflect on this day, let's not forget that it exists because of the Courage, Honor, Dedication, Commitment, and Sacrifices, of all those who have served, and continue to serve, both here and abroad, the U.S. and it's Allies.

To those who have served, and/or continue to serve, THANK YOU!
Have a safe and relaxing Veteran's Day.

The poppies are special... I have one from when I was a child that each year is placed in the Christmas tree. It reminds me that the freedoms I enjoy were paid for by the blood of men who put their country ahead of themselves. God bless them all.

I collect aphorisms (I know -- it's a weird thing to collect, but hey: I do live on a boat so...)
This is one that touches me:

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. USMC Chaplain Dennis Edward O'Brian.

Thanks to Dad and all the other Vets

My son is on the USS Antietam (HH60 Rescue Swimmer) leaving Hong Kong early headed for the Phillapines to aid in recue efforts.

3rd generation helicopter rescue participant...US Marines Korea, USCG...and now US Navy.

Hope the freakin' world who bad mouths the US and our Armed Forces would remember the bazillion times it came to someone's aid every year around the globe.

US Military too expensive...you bet...I say let's tax the shi* out of the rest of the world to live under our umbrella of freedom and support. Not to say other countries aren't as good or better..but most aren't even on the same planet.
