Does any of you have experience with this product? Does it do what it calims?

Looks expensive and I'd bet cartridges are hard to get.

We have two of these in series. One has a filter that looks like a spool of string and the other is activated charcoal. I have seen the filters in every hardware store I have ever been in.

Seagull looks like a rebranding of the Multipure filter. Multipure had an excellent rating from Consumer Reports. I use it in my home for drinking water.

....Thank you guys. Actualy the filter is now selling in Brazil as well and there are no problemns to get the cartridges. However, they claim that they eliminate the tank odors and that was what I was trying to confirm.

I removed one from my boat, just like the one in your picture. I just couldn't see $80-$100 for a small cartridge. It may be worth it if you are in an area where you don't trust the water. Search Seagull IV on TF, we just had a discussion on tis very subject.

You might want to check the price for a Multipure CB6 filter. It is not labeled "Marine" so it is less expensive and may be the same filter.

The "Marine" label is a North American joke that anything that is sold to the marine market costs more than the same thing sold elsewhere.

We have been thinking about buying a filter for the past year. I looked up the Multipure CB6 filter you suggested and Bought one. The cost was $169. plus CT )_*&*(^ tax and $15.00 shipping. Total $198.00.

there are two different filter media, one to improve taste and one that claims to remove heavy minerals and cysts... the second costs twice as much as the first.

We have a Seagull water purification that came with the boat. They claim the filters last about a year and you'll know they need to be changed when the stream from the faucet is diminished. A replacement filter can be had with doing a quick search through google for about half to 1/3 of the cost of a Seagull filter. I have noticed the water coming from the filter does taste good. I do get my dock side water from the hose so who knows?. For those looking at filtered water and want something less costly try the pure system. It's inexpensive and we have always had real good luck. Lived in a home with high amounts of solids,calcium and what not. Loved the system for that house, used it in others with good results. It's much better than the Britta as that doesn't remove much of anything - it's just a charcoal filter. My vote goes for the Pure for cost and we'll see about the Seagull. I can say I like the faucet - makes filling a cup, ice trays and the coffee pot easy and it doesn't take up valuable frig space.

THank you guys. There are other cheaper filters I am sure. The cartrodge here costs around $220 Uncle's Sam green ones...geeeeeeeee! I can live on beer here spending the same money

Did you buy the whole unit and not just the cartridge? This thread reminded me that I need a new cartridge when I return and just bought two after market for $49. plus shipping.

I have one similar to Tom B. Cartridges are 22 bucks from Loews and last a whole season or more. That system, Seagull, is way expensive.

Wont do a thing for the taste (charcoal required) but there are good UV 120v and 12V systems that will kill all the bugs. Sorry Montezuma.

A series of valves would allow a pressure fill with the system in line and later a second UV blast as the tank water is used.
