Dear group,

I am after a supplier of a new membrane for my HRO watermaker.

It is 40" x 3" so DOW wont work. Any ideas welcome.

My HRO 500 used a 2540 (2.5"X40") membrane. What model HRO do you have?

It's a Seafari Compact with a Size C 40" x 3" membrane. Hard to get.

I'm thinking of changing over to a 21" x 4" housing which is widely available and about the same GPD.

Check out FILMTEC MEMBRANE. Give them a call with your requirements and I'm sure you will find what you need. Very seldom do you need to go back to the maker of your watermaker to get replacement membranes.

I used a company in Long Beach, GET Inc. Try calling them at Tel: 1-562-983-7777. When I worked with them they were, I think, much smaller than today and were very helpful. If they don't have the 3x40, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

You may well find that it is most cost effective to switch to a standard 40 x 2.5 membrane even if you need to buy a new pressure vessel. I made this decision a couple of years ago rather than buy non-standard size membranes for my Village Marine RO. The standard membrane plus housing cost less than a new non-standard membrane. Plus you only need to buy the housing once!
