Underway Today

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
This doesn't look particularly good. I feel like a race car driver, you guys are only watching to see the wreck!

Just blew through here too. Wind first, big gusts....Lots of lightening in the distance, then HUGE sheets of rain. Now just light steady rain. All the wind is right smack infront of the precip. Tornados are in some of the line...here just north and west of us moving into VA.

Throw out a couple extra lines and check the portlights! :) It will be quick and fierce.

(small note ** hoping none of the twisters touched down)

I'm still trying to figure out your forum. I did post a picture of the boat. I have a 43 Bayliner.

David, always use the advanced function to post pics. You are not limited by no of posts except for posting links.

In advanced scroll down to manage attachments, click on that then click on browse, and go tp your photos, select the ones you want, one after another, (take care not to choose too may at once), then select upload...wait until that has happened, then scroll down to the bottom of that screen and click on close this window. Scroll back up to the submit button below where you see you attached image files and click on submit. It should then load the pics in the order you selected them.

NB. Depending on what browser and type of computer you are using, you might need to scroll round a bit to find the aforementioned buttons for browse, upload, close window etc.

Peter your gonna get me in trouble with the guru here he doesn't like to be high jacked..

Glad to see Daddyo made it save to a dock.

Thanks Dave. We're actually at anchor. Do not like to be tied to hard things like docks when weather is threatening.

Wow... That's pretty far up in the bay.

Well Daddyo, that storm slowed you a day, you meander and enjoy the sites some more and my brother TomB and I will be fighting to buy your first beer in Oriental on Friday. :)

Safe travels.

Thanks again for all the ICW porn.

Enjoyed the pics though! Looking ahead to next weekend for my oil and fuel filter changes! Ready to cruise. Thanks for posting.

Yesterday Isle of Palms Marina

You're killing me with these.

- Going on 40 years of vacations on Isle of Palms, much of them at that marina.

- Got the sailing bug real bad on my first sail from Sullivan's Island to Fort Sumter.

- Saw (or noticed) my first trawler in Georgetown -- a Grand Banks tied to the city dock.

Thanks for the best thread ever.

Staying put today?

Company just left, getting ready to head out. Really windy today. I busted my leg up pretty good (pretty shore it's torn tendons in my lower leg) last night so the new challenge is going to be doing it on one leg:-(

Threading the needle. That's in 20+ winds. He crabbed his way up to the bridge and then put her right through the middle like it was a piece of cake. 1 knt following current.

How'd ya do that?? I'm with BeachBum, make sure to call your DR tomorrow. Torn ligaments are no joke.

How far are you going to push today?? Myrtle Beach or Southport?

I had the ACL removed in that leg in '85 yet I'm a marathoner. Did a hard sit down off my Son's skateboard that I had bought him yesterday and warned him those things are dangerous and something went pop. Hoping for strained tendons and not torn. Didn't leave till 3:00 so just before the Rockpile is all I can hope for today.

So....just guessing, but that would make Monday RockPile to Wrightsville? Tuesday weather permitting Masonboro to Beaufort. Or inside Wrightsville to top of Adam's Creek. Weds up to the Pungo? Thursday to Deltaville?

If you do slow down and find yourself in Oriental on the weekend, we're still up for that frosty beverage.

If I were charting, I'd figure
1. Rock pile today
2. Wrightsville tomorrow
3. Morehead Tuesday
4. Belhaven Wednesday
5. North River Thursday
6. Hospital Point in Norfolk Friday
7. Deltaville Saturday

at Grace's approximate pace of ~70mi per day, assuming manageable weather.

Stop in Wrightsville to goto the damn doctor!!! ;-)

Actually, as the ex-husband of a physical therapist, I can tell you to alternate ice and heat. And stretch it under heat to your maximum range of motion and hold it. That's what she used to tell me anyway.

Disclaimer - I am not a medical professional, but I did divorce one and paid off her school loans. :)

70 miles a day? What kinda bum do you take me for :) 90 miles a day! Thanks for the cold one offers and the doctor advise. I think I'll know in the next day or two just how stupid I was on that board :). It probably isn't helping my judgement that I'm reading "Hemingway's Boat" right now.
