What the heck is this thing? It's on the side of the road in Key Largo. It's set up as some sort of marine device/vehicle/habitat, I'm just not sure what it's supposed to be.
There used to be an underwater habitat that you could stay in, basically underwater hotel rooms. I suspect that this was part of that at one time. Chuck
That doesn't look like the one I remember. It was in a lagoon on the east side of the cut. Because of the clear water it could be seen from the surface. It was last used as an over night underwater rental for scuba enthusiasts. Sleep under water---pretty unique.
On one of those "prepper" shows they were building a sphere that they wanted to use like a life boat in a hurricane or tsunami. This doesn't look substantial enough to be used that way, unless it closes like a clam shell. And what's it sitting on? Could it be anchored to a steel and concrete base?
