I am planning to replace the soft top on my flybridge enclosure as it has seen better days. It was made with Weblon and I plan to replace it with the same material. Has anyone worked with this material? I have purchased the Weblon and tried gluing a sample section using H66 glue. This seemed to make a terrific joint. I was going to glue then sew the seams but from what I saw in my test joint I wonder if there is any need to sew? If anyone has worked with Weblon or similar vinyl laminated polyester materials I would appreciate any guidance or tips. I have searched the internet and have found just about nothing on the subject. Don't sew if you don't have to. It'll just perforate the material and weaken it as well as introduce holes. If you can cut with a hot knife, it would be better, as it will help seal the edges. The only weak spot is that the fibers will wick water inside the laminate. See if the mfg. has some tips about this.
