I am looking at a 1997 GB 36 with twin Perkins. I do not believe they are still current and obviously am concerned abt service, parts etc.
Can anyone give me a web site where these engines are "reviewed" for reliability etc etc?
Anyone have first hand knowledge?
How can I determine the availability of parts and service down the road?
HELP!! Pls
Many thanks,
Nick

The M135 Perkins Sabre is a great engine. It should be a good match with the GB 36.The M135s are non turbo and with 6 liters about the least stressed newer design diesel out there. No problem with parts, but all you should need are filters. I have the M225 TA version (year 2003) of the same engine and they have been pretty much bullet proof except for the after coolers which the M135 does not have. Cat owns Perkins Sabre and will keep parts around for a long time

How many hours on the engines? Service records available? Hurth transmissions? If so they are very good ones.

PM me if you want some service and spare parts tips.

I do not know if Cat will introduce the same parts policy with the Perkins line, but for Cat engines and machines, they guarantee that parts will be available for fifty years.
