Perla has unfailingly supported my boating interest and coaxes me for new boating outings. She has even bugged me to get a dinghy (now ordered without her knowledge. Surprise!).

If you are talking about the person who dictates every aspect of our boat's operation, who determines the itinerary of our every trip, who oversees the preparation of every meal, who personally selected the dinghy we have on the swimstep, who passes final judgement on every harbor, bay, dock, marina, or anchorage we visit, who determines who is allowed on the boat and who is not, who determines our activities every day on a cruise, who determines when we go to bed and when we get up, who determines if and when we will go ashore and what we will do when we get there, that would be the first picture.

If you are talking about my wife that would be the second picture (it's the only one I have of her on this iPad).

I get in trouble every time I post the first picture.

If you've followed the blog you've seen it before. In the bilge with a steam cleaner at the start of the amateur backyard boat project.
Second is from last weekend sailing on a friends Tartan 35.
Third is a toe wave from a couple of months ago when she had broken wrist.
Julie put in hundreds of hours on the boat project. Many hundreds.

I'm a lucky guy.

Note the before and after cockpit.

I swear mine lost a bet sometimes.

What I want to know is what all these good looking, all suffering women are doing hanging around hopeless boat nuts like us.

At one time they saw the fundamental goodness in us boat nuts and thought that over time we could be changed for the better:whistling:. But after 36 years, I'm slowly converting her over to my side; or I think I am...:oldman:

Greetings,
I've heard it said a woman marries and hopes her mate changes and a man marries and hopes his mate doesn't. The keepers are the ones that have the saintliness to suffer us.

2nd pict: Admiral Linda hoping with full trust in her heart that Capt Art kept close eye on the other boats!, and, me watching some stupid/nutty Captains near running into each other (they also came way too close to us... I then made our Tolly zoom off at 22 knot WOT to get well away from the dumb acting captains) while we joined into ushering Tom Perkins' 289' length / 42’ beam / 1,400 ton, square rigged, computer operated, $130M boat "The Maltese Falcon" under the GGB and into SF Bay... 9/27/2008!

In all fairness to Meg, I first raised the issue of buying our first boat 16 years into marriage, so I guess it's me who changed and tricked her into it.

We will soon celebrate 28 great years!

Hi Don

The song-words I quoted were from a 1969 +/- song played in Maine. They stuck in my head! At funny junctions they're worth mentioning... this time for conjunction with Jennifer's little diddy bout some ladies liking Boys with Big Toys.

TY for compliment on da G-Kids. Now 9 and near 12, both still (acting) sane! Each are great and were here to cook dinner for Linda and me last eve (every Tuesday it’s a date). They live just a five minute walk, on our side of The Valley... in very rural West Marin County; 45 minutes to SF!

Pict is from top elevation porch, in front of our living room windows. Same view from my office windows with next lower porch in front! See the rural mansion on other side of The Valley (near top just left of center... looks tiny - don't it) with San Geronimo Valley Golf Club and Club House between us!

Happy Boat Daze! - Art :socool:

Nice to see all the spouses enjoying what we do. I just purchased an oceanside property where the husband done the boating thing and the wifey wasn't interested in anything water-wise. From the bounce his boat went up for Sale plus the property.. glad I was waiting in the wings.. not so happy for the seller though, he offered me $50K last month over what I purchased it for. When I said NO he then wanted to rent it from us.. Must be hard having a spouse pulling in a opposite direction of our interest.

1st pic - taken from wharf ( house in background, garage to left and brown storage shed for boating equipment on the right ), 2nd pic taken from front of wharf. Just behind my boat is where the new marina will be going..

What a lost for him and a gain for Peg and I

Elwin
