I have 2 8D batteries 1 starts both mains and 1 house. One engine charges the start battery and the other charges the house using a oil pressure switch to kick the alternator into charge mode.

That was the same problem I had with mine last year, it had 1400+ hours. It ran fine right up to the time it wouldnít start, pulled it out and rebuilt and in the boat in time to winterize.
