Wanted Line tossing Shotgun

I am seeking a mosberg 500 or 590 line tossing shotgun. These haven't been manufactured for a number of years. If you have one or know someone who has one for sale please contact me.

You might also look for a Very pistol that was factory modified to shoot line .

The US Navy used them so an old but goody should be available.

These differ from the std Very pistol in having a shield of about 14 inches in diameter mounted.

Good hunting.

Ammo? good question

I really want to see the look on the face of anyone on the dock when you try to use one.

Just how far from the dock do you reasonably envision throwing lines? Or maybe I should ask...How large is your Ship??

I've used various shotguns and an M-14 as a line thrower when on ships. Unless you are really going for long distance or height, a heaving line with a lead ball in the monkey fist always works for me. I know today you're not supposed to use lead inserts, but I know how to throw a heaving line w/o hitting people. Just one more thing over cautious people have screwed up.

The Navy ones as well as the one we had in our Rescue Truck in the fire department threw brass rods. I would hate to be on the receiving end of one of those brass rods...

We never used the one in the Rescue Truck, not sure what ever happened to it. In the Navy they were used regularly for underway replenishment, throwing the brass rod at another steel ship never seemed like that big of a deal watching it. I am sure for the guys on the receiving end it WAS a big deal :-)

I was a radarman, so I was only a spectator...
