Unless your friends are paying for it, who cares?

Tell them to go look at their iPhones, marine electronics, coffee cups, etc- made in China.....

Hell, even really nice trawlers like Selene, Nordhavn, Ocean Alex, etc are made overseas.

Grand Banks are not made in China but they are still made in Asia, so that may not be acceptable to your friends. You should also avoid Nordhavns, Flemmings, Krogens, Selenes, Cheoy Lee and many others as they are Chinese made. You might look at Deltas or Northern Marine, they're not Chinese made.

Well its not them its me. I buy nothing that isnt made in a country that has human rights and environmental standards that meet my approval. china is the bottom of the list. I'm partial to US, Canadian and some of the other countries of the America's excluding mexico and a couple of others. If i cannot find a product made in a yes country i then look at the company that makes the item with the USA and Canada being number one again and then on down the list. Japan because of their insistance upon whaling for food even though they signed the internationaal treaty banning whaling ranks just above china. Dont get me wrong, i have nothing against the people just their goverments policies. Shoot, many of my colleges were phd's from C..opps china

Wood Grand Banks boats were made by American Marine starting in 1966 in their yard in on the Kowloon Penninsula across the bay from the city of Hong Kong. It is part of Hong Kong. Limited space and a growing demand for their boats (Grand Banks and Alaskans) prompted them to acquire a larger piece of property in Singapore. The Singapore yard had the space for fiberglass molds so in mid-1973 the GB36 and 42 were switched to fiberglass construction and the boats were made in Singapore.

The GB32 soon followed. So all fiberglass Grand Banks boats were and are made in Singapore. The Kowloon yard continued builidng wood boats like the Alaskans but after a few years it was closed and all wood boat production ended.

More recently the company, now called Grand Banks, Llc, acquired a yard across the strait from Singapore in Malaysia. Today the Grand Banks and Aleutian lines are made using both yards. In many cases the hulls are made in Singapore and then towed across to the Malaysia yard for the installation of the interiors, which are built as a series of modules and lowered into the hull, and the decks and cabin supertructure.
