I have an old ("International" brand from memory) depth sounder with a similar display system, inbuilt, presumably OEM, in our 1981 boat. Still works,and maintains furious agreement with the Garmin sounder.

I was thinking the Professor on Gilligan's Island built it out of coconuts....thought I saw a little crank handle for generating it's own juice.

Actually it was lemon juice vigorously stirred up. That professor really knew his science. Too bad he never seemed to notice cute little Mary Ann running around....
