I like it. Please tell us more about it, and post pictures. Congratulations.

What a handsome boat! I've seen a number of the BFs on the coast and they appear to be a really sturdy trawler. We'll keep an eye open for "Due West" this summer - maybe we'll bump into each other...I mean....

Mosey: Love the boat and it's curvy lines. A real lady! Sincere Congrats.

Not looking for a small trawler. Am actually selling my 2013 Ranger Tug R29. Perfect conditions with less than 100 hours on the diesel. Every option and then some. If anyone is interested they may call me at 814-969-4245. Just dropped the price from $249,000 to $209,900. Gary

Distinctly Farrell look. Probably way overbuilt hull. I recommended the same boat to a friend who was looking for manly, not yachty, boat.

She's a 1990 Barry Farrell designed West Coast Trawler.
For those not familiar with Farrell's boats there are literally hundreds of Farrell designed commercial fishboats of all sizes on the West Coast, particularly in B.C..
"Due West" was never a fish boat but was built as a a cruiser, but built LIKE a fishboat; i.e. tough and no B.S.
There's a ton of projects to get her to where I want her but that's part of the fun, isn't it?
Thanks to everyone who posted and sent private messages.

Very nice, please post interior pics!!!

thanks

Thanks for the feedback; we're pretty happy with her.
A couple of you asked for more info:
She and her sistership were built (hull & deck) at Independent Shipwrights in Coombes, here on Vancouver Island, for two friends who then parked them in their yards and helped each other finish them.
She's got a Cummins 210hp BT 6 on a vee drive (i.e. the engine is in the middle of the rather massive cockpit, freeing up interior space). Does 8.5 knots at a fuel burn of about 2 Canadian gallons per hour, top speed of 14 knots but I imagine the fuel burn is ridiculous. She is very heavily built and can keep up speed and stability in almost any weather as witnessed by an incredibly rough February delivery trip where she held up a lot better than her crew, none of which were newbies!
The previous (second, I'm the third) owner had rolling chocks installed which gives her a real solid feel for a boat of her size, they reportedly added a bit of top-end speed as well.
She's definitely not a "cutesy" yacht but does have really great lines; the surveyor referred to her as a "masculine yacht".

I'll take and post a couple of interior pics and shots of her sexy rear end in the next day or two.

Then I guess you would know there is quite a nice one for sale in Sidney for a good price.

I think Delfin sold, it was kind of weird with 5'9" headroom, if that's what you mean.

If the one in PR has red trim, it has been offered for sale for years...

Nope. Not Powell River, Sidney. Have a look at Pacific Yacht Brokers.

BTW: why am I receiving these posts on my email? Not sure I understand that. I am, however, selling my Prairie/29 (posted under Classifieds) if you're interested.

Thanks CPseudonym. I think that I have now "unsubscribed" to a number of threads I had contributed to. I guess now I have to do the same to this one (again!) if I don't want any more communication with this thread.

Thanks DJones, but no, I think we'll be keeping this one!
The more we use her and the more I tinker with her and make her "ours" the more we love her!

English Bluff, if the one in Sidney is the one I looked at several months ago it is very disappointing. Not really the same boat as mine as Farrell redesigned the 32, adding more freeboard and a more sweeping sheer that gives a lot more interior room and, in my opinion, a better looking boat.

On another note, there's an interesting article about Farrell in the December "Harbour Spiel" on line magazine (follow the link)

the barrie Farrell link is much appreciated. Priceless BC marine history. Met Allen at False Bay. These guys knew how to work.
