Very Nice, What speed is she best suited to travel and what is top end etc. I am curious and shoping for a personal liveaboard with a targeted home port of Port Aransas, Texas.

There are a number of "live-aboard" Seleners on the Selene website. These vessels are designed for offshore, long-distance cruising, but are very comfortably set-up and equipped for living aboard. We lived on Auriga for several months while cruising. The blog below provides full boat details and info on our Bahamas cruise.

"Wing Engine: Yanmar 4JH3E / 56HP (32hrs) driving Yanmar SD50 Saildrive (10hrs)"

Can I ask why the engine and the saildrive would have such differing hours? Is this just saying that the engine has been started and run for 22 hours longer than actually engaged pushing the boat?

The original Yanmar Saildrive SD30 was replaced with a new Yanmar SD50 (0 hours) in 2006. The Yanmar 56HP engine is from 2000. We typically only run this back-up system a few hours each year. It starts first push every time!! We do not run the engine without the drive engaged once the engine has started.

Just a reminder that Selene 47 "Auriga" is still available. If anyone knows somebody with possible interest in a "go anywhere" ocean trawler, I would appreciate it if you would refer them to my blog.

She's looking good but a little lonely. We were on "The Boston Office" when I took the pictures a few weeks ago.

Is that a standard swim platform? Very nice!

Hi Larry:

Thanks for the photos. Yes, we have not spent as much time on her this year as previous. Hope you had a good time with Mike Fasci in his Boston Office.
The swim platform was something they did on the earlier Selenes but have discontinued. They now have a solid section with storage built-in. We like the hinged platform. When you do not need it, it is out of the way. The boat length is less for dockage and security is better at anchorage. Also, in a following sea, waves can not lift under the transom platform. All the best.

Thanks I didn't scroll down far enough. thought that was just a desc. of the name. One question am I to understand the master does not have a walk around bed as I am used to in a 47 Selene?
