• Trawler Forum Classified Posting Guidelines
    • We expect ads placed to be related to the topic of this forum.
    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Avoid Scams.

Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Tried to post this before with no luck. Looking for a trawler for the great loop? I have something you might be interested in. We have a 1988 501 we bought in 2013. It wasn't a project boat but we did do a pretty complete restore project (over 100K) while using her as a winter home in Ft Myers Beach, including a complete paint job by Diversified in Ft Myers ( paint house.,5 star paint job)Hardware off, new rub rail, custom 12ft glass tender and Marquip type custom crane. We did engine work, bottom ,software, and she is beautiful again. This 501 gets over a mile per gallon at 1150rpm, 12mph and 8.5 gph ( total both eng !) She does 26 mph wot and cruises all day at 15-17 mph and 28 gph. 501 CCs have a very solid glass hull and are build to standards that rival Hatt and Bertram. I have now decided that I want a Convertible again and will be moving in that direction but it will be another solid glass hull ( Post,Viking, maybe even a 50 Silverton)! My surveyor told me to NEVER buy a cored hull boat. Cored decks are mostly OK...but not bottoms or hull sides...period! His words not mine! He was one of many prime surveyors in New Orleans and said no cored hulls survive anywhere like the solid hulled boats and certain makes were ALL totaled! Email jgdrd7605@verizon.net if interested. Gary
My beauty has a few things left to do but nothing major.

What is a 501?

Perhaps pictures and a price would yield better results than the last time you posted it.

Ditto, on more info please

Thanks for helping out there Craig. Yes lovely boat. Ditto your feelings. :)

Is it painted?

If not what is the finish on it that is giving it that gloss?

Hello lady,

If posting online pictures without the date been seen is an issue, I think I can help with that.
Lovely boat by the way wish I can place a price on it. Wow :D

cambria lady 1988 501 for sale

Yes it is painted. It's the same as the other good quality poly urethane paints like awgrip and imron .It's by EMC and is one of the very few that can be "blended" without repainting an entire section...and the shine is real, looks even better in person and has been washed only, never waxed. One of the big pluses is it was painted in a climate, dust and bug controlled "paint house" at Diversified, Ft Myers supervised by Bob Marra.

Is there a formal listing of the boat somewhere ?
My wife and I are in good Looper boat that may work for you.
We are year round liveaboards and the boat is set up that way. Diesel and propane fireplaces etc...

He posted his phone number and email address above Tom. I don't know him beyond this thread and our swapped emails yesterday but Gary seems both down to earth and approachable, just not "techie" if that makes sense.

Tom, This is the first I thought about selling. The boat does get a good bit of attention and will probably just put a sign on her in Ft Meyers .Not sure what you mean. We don't travel much any more by boat.Am into my 70,s and don't want to deal with all those problems that come up with cruising ...been boating all our lives and have enjoyed all the boat vacations except the one where I had to call a Mayday under the Verizono Brdge when a log came thru the bottom of my 62 Colonial, and oh yah... and when I lost the port eng docking on the C&D Canal due to salt water intrusion on that engine on my Hatteras. Then there was the time we got caught on Lake Erie when pretty much everything that could go wrong did. And we are very careful, weather conscious, believe in good maintenance and preventative maintenance, boaters and still.... We now live on board for 3-4 month, no trips...,like to fish a little and either drive to the Keys by car or pay to cruise on someone else's boat that carries at least 3000 people. That's why I sort of want a"ranch" style boat that will sleep comfortable and fish a little. If you have or know of a good Post or Viking,?,or other glass hull convertible I'd be interested in taking a trade, if that's what you mean. Gary

Tom/Craig, I see how Tom thought I was looking for a loop boat. I was responding to someone who IS looking. Sorry about that.I think something was dropped on my post and they added boat for sale 1998 501. Craig, can you correct that to 1988 or do I have to contact the "For Sale Police"? Gary

I contacted them for you Gary. The edit should happen in the next few hours.

Next time click the report post button on your own post and when the dialogue box opens up type in the edits you wish. A moderator will private message you if they need further information.

No, bought for a way to be out of harms way june to dec and have been renting when not using. Now want to sell...looking for a dock?
