For Sale: Oasis 35,000BTU Diesel Furnace

Currently installed in Shangri-La, our 42' Grand Banks. Includes boiler, 5 zone valve assembly, 5 remote heater units with thermostats, engine block heater, all diesel fuel runs and filters, pumps, hot water hoses to in-cabin heaters. Oasis offers an add on for hot water tank heat as well.

Perfect unit if your boat is on the hard in cold weather. Does not require sea water to run. Just AC power and fuel.

Entire unit is for sale. Was installed around 2010 at a cost of over $12,000. Asking $5,000 if you have it removed by a professional, more if we have to remove it. Will go up on Ebay this week. Shangri-La will be at Atlantic Yacht Basin, Chesapeake, VA for the next two weeks.

Thank you. We've decided if we won the lottery we'd keep Shangri-La. Love this boat. Just don't need that big heater. Made it through 11 degrees nights so far with just two of the three heat pumps.

what exactly are you using for heat? heat pump? model #?

With marine heat pumps once the water is about 40deg F you will not get heat.

The more modern split system air units will heat well below zero F.

The heat pump/AC units are Marine Air (which I believe is now Dometic) a 7,000 in the V-berth, 9,000 in the salon and I believe it's an 8,000 BTU in the stateroom. Rarely ran the V-berth one other than to keep the pipes warm in that head. V-berth one was replaced in 2007. The other two are original with the boat (1990) Fingers crossed. . . .

I just saw the note above about water at 40 not offering up any heat. And the manual says the same. However, in January we showed 38 degree water under the boat with 2" of ice in the harbor all around - cabin stayed 68 degrees. Makes no sense. There is no auxiliary heating coils on any of the units and we never fired up the diesel furnace. Go figure.

I think my dometic / crusair units have a heat pump built-in to each unit. I think it does lose ability starting around 50 degree water and then its down from there. I don't think its worth installing a whole system on my boat as we don't live aboard during winter, we just need something to get us through a few cold weeks until the water warms up more. Time to start researching an alternative safe solution! GLWS

Yes, the marine units are all heat pumps as far as I can tell. I think the big advantage to this diesel unit would be someone who lives aboard on the hard in the winter. Small audience for sure. But it will run out of the water as it uses no sea water circulation.
