Looks great krogenken,
So many trawlermen are so concerned w seaworthyness and fuel burn that you should have lots of interest. The Krogen is an excellent example of a genuine full disp trawler and there are so few. I personally like the stern of the Keogen even better than the Willard. A perfect trawler stern to be sure.

In Florida? You're going to take a break or otherwise make a change I suppose. Hope it's for the best and that you stay around on TF.

We will be downsizing to a 26-28 footer. We bought the 42 to liveaboard now and cruise in 4-5 yrs after I retired. My little condition will just change how we boat. The 42 is now the " right" boat at the wrong time. She has been extensively cruised in the past as SABO. We want to see her cruise again, not sit at our dock. Krogens do have lovely lines!

Krogenken,
It's amazing how similar the Krogen 42 is to the Willard 40. I remember the write-up about the two boats in Voyaging Under Power. As I recall the Krogen was more efficient than the Willard but both being true full disp boats and extremely seaworthy they should be very desirable not only to the passage making skipper but anyone wanting a bigger more efficient boat. Very good blog Ken thanks.

Thanks, Eric. The admiral worked very hard on that. The two boats are similar, there are just a lot more Krogens out on the waters of the world.

Update- All exterior brightwork ( handrails, caprails, pilothouse doors, etc) have received 3 or more coats of varnish. BEAR is really looking good!

If I may make a suggestion on your blog/photos, for those of us just now thinking (learning) about getting into trawlers and not knowing the layout of the KK it would be nice to know the layout, particularly whether the Master SR is forward or aft. It looks forward but I'm not certain.

The boat (and your blog) look very nice BTW.

Thank you for the suggestion. Often times what is obvious to oneself, is not obvious to others.

KrogenKen,
The Bear is looking good. The 42 is my favorite. My wife has a thang for the 42 also.I would sell the house for one of these and after a few rum drinks she would also.

BEAR has been sold. Our Krogen 42 has a new owner as of 8/12/2013. Thank you to all who looked at our ad and our blog. Our thanks also go to the several list members who offered advice and even refered potential buyers to our boat.

krogenken: Are you done with boats? Will you become Kittiwake Ken, Catamaran Ken or Key West Ken now? Congrats on your sale.

Thank you Daddyo! Healhustler, no we're not done with boats. The addiction is too strong!
Probably get a pontoon or deckboat as we are right on the river. Eventually, we plan to get an Acadia 25 and trailer around.
I might have to be pontoonken, but it just doesn't have the right ring......
