DeFever 40 Passagemaker 1976

Last Dance is a DeFever 40 Passagemaker built in 1976 by Jensen Marine in California. She is a double cabin design, with a v-berth and head forward, salon and galley-up on the main level, and master berth and head aft with shower and tub. A large flybridge provides 360* views and safe watches while cruising.

She is powered by twin 6-354 Perkins diesel engines which were replaced new in 1995, currently showing 4500 hours. An 8 kW Westerbeke generator provides 120-volt electricity while at anchor. It was also replaced in 1995 and has 1100 hours. The Borg Warner transmissions were rebuilt in 2016.

A Garmin electronic navigation system with a 12-inch screen provides highly readable charts and radar images. The chartplotter is interfaced with the VHF radio/AIS receiver to show AIS targets on the chartplotter screen. The upgraded radio also functions as a loud hailer and fog horn. An XM weather receiver is mounted on the mast.

The electrical system includes twin 30 amp inlets with twin cords and adapters for hooking to twin 30 amp, single 30 amp, and single 50 amp shoreside outlets. Twin galvanic isolators protect the boat's systems. A Magnum 2800 inverter charger maintains the batteries and provides 120-volt ac power when needed.

The sanitation system was completely replaced in 2010 with two Raritan electric heads, a Raritan Lectrasan on the aft head (best option for the Bahamas), both heads plumbed to a 33-gallon holding tank with an on-deck pumpout and macerator pump.

The fuel tanks are 450 gallons and the water tanks hold 275 gallons for long range cruising capabilities. She can cruise over 1000 miles before needing fuel.

Heating and cooling are provided by two 16,000 btu reverse-cycle Cruise Air units.

The galley is spacious with 18 drawers and 7 cabinets. A Princess electric stove with oven, an 8 cu ft Tundra refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, toaster oven, and double bowl sink serve the galley.

The aft cabin has a double bed to port, a 6-foot long hanging locker, a 5 drawer dresser, and 7 additional drawers under the bed and locker. Storage is greater than on many larger boats.

An 8.5 ft Achilles high-pressure floor dinghy powered by a 4 hp Yamaha rests on the aft trunk cabin.

Last Dance has taken her current owners on many adventures over their 20 years of ownership including multiple trips to the Bahamas, the Great Loop, and summers in Maine. She is reluctantly for sale as the owners move on to other adventures.

PRICE: $85,000

Two blogs document Last Dance's journey on the Great Loop and Maine summers.

Last Dance is currently located in New York, on the Erie Canal near Syracuse. She will be heading south along the east coast summer 2019, available to be seen at many locations.

More information and photos are on the blog site listed below which will be continually updated with information and additional photos.
