Cummins lift/transfer fuel pump

Brand new genuine Cummins lift/transfer pump. Was on my boat as a spare but does not fit my engine?! Cummins tells me it will fit 6BT5.9M but you will have to check your serial number. Retail is $180 in Canada. $90 or make an offer.

I may be interested, but would need to check the boat this weekend to make sure it is the right one. I'll let you know, but please don't hold it waiting on me if you get an offer.

Doesn't look like anything I've seen on my 6BTA 5.9M.

Ditto Dwhatty, the lift pump on my 6bt is totally different. Maybe they changed the pump, lord knows they change part numbers every five minutes.

There are two common versions - this one and a diaphram model that looks a lot like the one on our old Yanmar. Determining the correct parts for Cummins is a real POA, which is why you often need to give the parts counter your serial number to get the right parts.

Went to Cummins in Hayward a few weeks ago to get new valve cover gaskets, a hose on the turbo oil return and a thermostat. Valve cover screw o rings and hose were wrong. It's a crap shoot. When possible, I'm going to take the old part up there. Have heard it is worse over the phone!

Absolutely correct that your serial number is the key to whether it will fit your engine. I advertised this pump on another web site and had a reply from a fellow saying that it did not fit the 6BT Cummins in his boat, but that it would fit the 6BT Cummins in his motor home. So obviously it will fit some engines.... and is still for sale. Somebody out there can surely use it!

That style pump (piston pump) is for the Cummins engines using a Bosch P 7100 series (inline) injection pump usually the 270 hp and up engines.
The 210/220 engines use a diaphram style pump, usually feeding a CAV (rotary) injection pump.

(FYI the pickup truck performance guys commonly use this pump, so I think it would sell quickly on ebay if you wanted to go that route.)
