Wanted: 42-55' Trawler for Long Term Lease 4/14-10/14

Qualified couple (age 50) looking for a 6-month lease from 4/15/14-10/15/14. Ideally, we'd love a trawler- a Nordhavn, Seline, Grand Banks, Kadey-Krogen, Fleming, DeFever or Tug ranging from 42-55 ft, to cruise between Seattle and Alaska.

Will also trade our 4bdm/4bath-5000 sf million dollar home in Whitefish, Montana (just outside of Glacier National Park) for your boat.

We'll pay the lease and maintenance, insurance, moorage costs.

Husband is professional Gulfstream pilot with 30 years experience. Wife has 25 years experience as captain on a 48' boat in the Caribbean.

Yacht must have two staterooms/two baths minimum.

If you don't have a boat for lease, do you know someone who does? Most charter companies only lease for a week, and we need it for 6 months. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

You might contact brokers in your area hoping to find a seller that has the boat on the market for a few years.Lots of expense , no Lookie Lous.

The boats operation will help all the equipment on board and if the boat is sold to the insurance company during the charter period the owner will be delighted.

Large items usually rent for 1% of the value per day,less per week,

a guess 4 months will probably cost 20% or more of the value of the boat .

Plus insurance for international travel is no bargain.

Might be cheaper to purchase a far lesser boat , self inshure , and then just walk away.

Let me see if I have this picture correct. They own a Million dollar + house, He flies a Corporate jet for a living, she Captained a 48' boat for several years and you think they may want to show up at the dock with a derelict, run down boat that someone hasn't been able to sell so that they can save a few thousand buck.

No I think no one in their right mind is going to hand over a big buck boat for months on end without a huge charter cost.

The question of a cheap boat is hardly a derelict run down boat , just a far less pretensious boat.

The LRC advertised on this board for $150 K probably could be sold rapidly for $120K after the trip

Which is more important , the voyage ,or how folks you will never know look at you as you strut down the fuel dock from a rental?

If a big boat of huge capacity is necessary iI believe it would be far easier to arrange a captained charter , where the owner could at least expect the boat back in good condition.

The usual hassle , lack of total privacy may be the only answer.

Someone had posted a similar request on the Selene board a while ago for an East Coast boat but AFAIK there were no takers. It's a tough situation in the case where something goes wrong.

Our boat is in charter in Anacortes, WA. A couple of years ago we were asked by our charter company if we would like to have a 3 month long charter for someone wanting to go to Alaska. They were offering to pay around $40,000 for the 3 months. I wasn't interested, but I think a guy with a 49 Meridian wanted the deal. So, you can check with charter companies, some people would jump at a 6 month charter if the dollars were right.
