34 Mainship

1982/2009,10,12,13,14-----
Totally tricked out 34 Mk1 with NEW 5.9 Cummins, <400 hrs, 3.5KW genset <60hrs, bow thruster. All Garmin. All other systems renewed or replaced including panels and rewire, plumbing, interior and on and on and on. I have close to $100k in her, asking less than 1/2. Did much of the labor myself but boat parts alone.... Why do they not sell marine supplies by the troy ounce? It would be easier. BTW, 2 gallons an hour at 8 knots.

Should be an easy sell. Have you some pictures to post or a web link. Good luck with the sale.

Did you remove the lower helm? Nice boat I looked at Mainship MarkI, II and III's before settling on a full displacement Gulfstar 36.

I had the boat 2 years before I removed the lower helm. Never used it. I tried. I talked to a number of MS owners before I did. To a man they agreed they did not feel safe with piloting from below. Interestingly, 2 were from cold country, Michigan and Minnesota. I agreed. Added to the fact that there is not a side door next to the lower helm. Ya can bail from the bridge about as fast as you can exit the cabin for single handing for lines work and so forth. Lastly, for $200 or so you can get a remote for the auto pilot and drive the boat from anywhere on the boat. I would far prefer to have a shifter, throttle control in the cockpit and a remote for steering than the lower helm. Living aboard I needed the space and I removed all the silly fuses near the lower helm and put modern panels in for both ac and dc. The bridge is enclosed and has AC for a heater if necessary (in FL?). Two things on these boats...trim tabs?....Lower helm???? Seems like marketing ploys more than need. I have no use for either.

Thanks for the reply Mule, like you I have a Mainship only a 40 Sedan Bridge I highly customized it and I am trying to sell it. I had a total refit done between 2007 and 2009. Good luck with the sale. I'm on to my next boat a Gulfstar 36.

You certainly did it right when it came to repowering your Mainship. Well done I suspect it will sell rather quickly mainly due to the Cummins, the generator and many like a bow thruster.
Best of luck in her sale...

Well I sold my Mainship 40SB. I hope you do better than I did. Then again the boat had some cosmetic issues and was a Sandy vessel even though there was no water intrusion I had to prove it with a letter from my insurance carrier.
